U12 Championships Results - Spoiler - it's Golden!!

Apr. 06, 2025

At the start of the year, U12A had a team meeting and the players chose the team motto that would adorn the backs of their practice jerseys.  “Don’t wish for it, Work for it.”

It would be a rough start to the season for this group.  In early season league and tournament play, London U12A would get off to a difficult 1-10-2 start of the year.

Rather than resign themselves to defeat, this group worked, and they worked, and they worked harder.  Twice weekly practices; twice weekly strength and conditions sessions; regular gymnasium sessions; over 20 exhibitions games; and an overwhelming majority of the team participating in both rounds of Lynx PowerSkating.  This team put their nose to the grind stone and worked.

Fast forward a few months, and in a remarkable change of circumstances, London U12A would ride a 16-game undefeated streak all the way to a Gold Medal at the Ringette Ontario U12 Championships.  Emerging as the big winner from a field of 16 teams.

London began the week in Markham is with a strong round robin performance of 4-0-1 against a tough draw:

-London (9) vs. Oshawa (1)

-London (7) vs. Ottawa-Baker (5) - eventual silver medalist

-London (5) vs. The Sault (2) - eventual bronze medal winner

-London (5) vs. Kitchener (5) - quarter finalist

-London (9) vs. Elora (7)

In the Quarter-Final, London would rematch Kitchener who they would beat 9-4.  The Semi-Final was a gruelling battle against Tillsonburg that ended with a 3-2 Lynx victory.  In the Gold Medal Game London would once again face Ottawa-Baker, and feature an exciting game that saw Ottawa mount a come-back and tie the game at 4, before London put things to bed 6-4.

Enjoy the win girls.  No one could deserve it more!

London U12C also had a terrific showing in Markham this week.  London U12C entered the tournament as a bit of a dark horse.  They mounted incredibly strong showings against their first two opponents, but came up just short.  London (2) vs. Guelph (4); and London (3) vs. St. Mary’s (4).    London U12C would get a taste victory with two more incredibly strong efforts: London (6) vs. Mississauga (1); and London (2) vs. Sundbury (1).  This would set up a must win game between Kitchener and London U12C to determine who would advance out of the round robin.  Unfortunately this day belonged tot he Wildcats as they beat London U12C by a score of 9-6.  Great job London U12C, we are so proud of the effort you put in.
