Congratulations to the U19AA who capped off an excellent Pink-the-Rink Tournament with a Golden performance!
London had to fight through a tough round robin that saw them score a win against Kitchener 6-1, Mississauga 7-0, a 4-4 draw with Richmond Hill, and a tough 4-2 loss to Ajax Pickering; before earning a birth into the Gold Medal Match by defeating Eastern Ontario 7-5 in the Semi-Finals early Sunday morning.
The Gold Medal game was a rematch against Ajax Pickering. After a strong start that saw London stake themselves to a 6-2 early lead, the Lynx were able with withstand a relentless onslaught by Ajax Pickering that saw the game tighten to a one-goal game late in the 4th period. This game was a nail bitter. With the Ajax net empty and two London players in the penalty box, London survived a gruelling final few shifts to secure a 6-5 victory, and win the first and only Gold Medal for the Lynx at the 42nd Annual Pink-the-Rink Tournament. This game was a true pleasure to watch for all the fans that made the trip back to the rink. Congratulations U19AA!
Congratulations to the U19A London Lynx who won a Silver Medal at the 42nd Annual Pink-the-Rink Tournament!
London U19A had a strong round robin, going 1-1-1 which included a 5-3 loss to Forest, a 5-5 draw with St. Mary's, and a 3-2 win over Paris. They then won a hard fought semi-final game against St. Mary's 5-2, before running into a hot Forest team that was firing on all cylinders and delivered a strong 10-0 Golden performance. Congratulations U19A London Lynx on your much deserved Silver Medal!
Fun3-Knight has won Gold in the 2024 Tillsonburg Twisters Tournament. Huge congratulations to Team Knight along with some AP backup help from their fellow Fun3 Lynx teams. Team Knight entered this tournament as a dark horse, sporting a 3-3 regular season record; facing off against 3 challenging home town Twister teams, with a combined regular season record of 18-5.
Team Knight overwhelmed their Tillsonburg opponents and got stronger and stronger as the tournament progressed. They started their weekend with a 12-5 win against Tillsonburg-Ratter, followed by a 8-5 victory against their long standing rivals Tillsonburg-VanPuymbroeck. They finished out their round robin play with a decisive 18-10 win against the previously undefeated Tillsonburg-Manary. The Gold-medal match featured a rematch between team Knight and Manary that saw London take the lead 3:14 into the game, and they never looked back; cruising to a 15-4 win to take home their first medal of the season.
This was a tremendous team effort that had no less than 6 Lynx players score double digit point totals in a 4-game tournament. Special congratulations to Maia who scored her first ever ringette goal! And Ruby who was tremendous between the pipes. Our regrets to our friends who were not able to attend this tournament, we missed you! Congratulations London Lynx Fun3-Knight!!!!
Waterloo Winterfest: London U16AA had a terrific showing in Waterloo. They came into the New Year playing strong! Their opening match against Barrie Friday morning ended in a 7-7 tie with London scoring in the last few minutes to draw even. Their second game on Friday evening was a dominating 8-2 win over Gloucester which was followed up by another impressive 9-4 defeat of Ottawa Saturday morning. The U16’s had their first setback on Saturday evening when they lost a close 6-5 battle on an empty net goal with just 20 seconds remaining. London punched-their-ticket to the Gold Medal game on Sunday morning in exciting fashion with a 4-3 win against the previously undefeated West Ottawa team; the game winning goal coming with just 0.1 seconds left on the clock. In the Gold Medal game London got off to an early 1-0 lead, but the tenacious Kitchener team turned out to be too much on this day. Kitchener won 6-2. Great work ladies!
Kitchener 50th Anniversary Golden Ring Tournament: U16B had a tremendous weekend, winning Gold at the 50th anniversary Kitchener Golden Ring Tournament!! After a successful 2-1 round robin, London faced a rematch against Napean who had beaten them 5-4 earlier on Friday. This tenacious bunch rallied from a 3-0 first period deficit to win 6-5 and claim the only Lynx Gold Medal of the weekend. Congratulations ladies!
Kitchener 50th Anniversary Golden Ring Tournament: U14B opened strong, winning their first game 7-0 over Paris, which saw 2 power play goals, 2 short handed goals, and a hat trick by number #55 Grace Lalonde. U14B continued that powerful play against Sudbury in a nail biting 5-4 win that saw another 2 power play goals and another hat trick by Grace. In the final round robin game Saturday, London lost a close 2-0 dust up with St. Thomas. Sunday saw a rematch with St. Thomas in the gold medal game, despite fighting hard and never giving up, St. Thomas was victorious 9-1. Overall, great hard work and much deserved silver medal. Congratulations London U14B!
Kitchener 50th Anniversary Golden Ring Tournament: London started the weekend with an 8-7 win over Burlington, that saw the Lynx rebound from an early 4-1 deficit. Next up was a hard fought 6-2 loss to Richmond Hill. London then settled in and hit their stride with three successive victories over Kitchener 4-1, Sudbury 9-4, and their semi-final tilt against Kitchener 6-2. In the finals London rematched undefeated Richmond Hill, and claimed the Silver Medal in a closer, hard fought 6-4 defeat. Congratulations on your Silver Medal London U16AA!
