Starting in the U12 age division the players will be sorted into teams, based on ability and desired level of competition. After September 1st, players will participate in series of sorting skates organized by the LRA. Check our website regularly for the dates of these sorting skates. Based on factors such as skating ability, ring skills, game sense and tenacity, players will be placed on an A, B, or C level team. The levels of teams hosted by the LRA will be determined by the Board of Directors based on the number and ability of the registrants.
A, B, and C level teams all still compete in the Lower Ontario Ringette League and participate in the the Ontario U12 Championship Tournament year end event (Hosted by Ringette Ontario).
The U12A program is considered an 'Introduction to Competitive Ringette'. This team is expected to travel further distanced for games and tournaments (due to a smaller number of associations that host A level teams). Although team fees are set by each team and coach based on their planned team expenditures and activites, U12A tends to have significantly higher team fees and will pay a top-up registration fee to the LRA of $175 in addition to the normal U12 registration fee. These extra fees cover additional costs such as full-ice practices, additional game and practice ice, and tournaments.
If you have questions about the U12 team formation process, please talk to an LRA Board member or email a U12 Coach, once they have been announced on our List of Coaches.
