This was a very busy Tournament weekend for our Lynx teams of all ages, with 7 teams in action, from Fun3 right through to Open-A, and saw strong performances and great successes including a Gold Medal, two Silver Medals, and 3 third place finishes.

U16B had a tremendous weekend, winning Gold at the 50th anniversary Kitchener Golden Ring Tournament!! After a successful 2-1 round robin, London faced a rematch against Nepean who had beaten them 5-4 earlier on Friday. This tenacious bunch rallied from a 3-0 first period deficit to win 6-5 and claim the only Lynx Gold Medal of the weekend. Congratulations ladies!
U14B opened strong, winning their first game 7-0 over Paris, which saw 2 power play goals, 2 short handed goals, and a hat trick by number #55 Grace Lalonde. U14B continued that powerful play against Sudbury in a nail biting 5-4 win that saw another 2 power play goals and another hat trick by Grace. In the final round robin game Saturday, London lost a close 2-0 dust up with St. Thomas. Sunday saw a rematch with St. Thomas in the gold medal game, despite fighting hard and never giving up, St. Thomas was victorious 9-1. Overall, great hard work and much deserved silver medal. Congratulations London U14B!
U16AA claimed the final Lynx Medal of the weekend. This was not a ranking tournament for London U16AA. London started the weekend a little sleepy with an 8-7 win over Burlington, that saw the Lynx rebound from an early 4-1 deficit. Next up was a hard fought 6-2 loss to Richmond Hill. London then settled in and hit their stride with three successive victories over Kitchener 4-1, Sudbury 9-4, and their semi-final tilt against Kitchener 6-2. In the finals London rematched undefeated Richmond Hill, and claimed the Silver Medal in a closer, hard fought 6-4 defeat. Congratulations on your Silver Medal London U16AA!
U12A was also in action in Kitchener this weekend and played some of their best ringette of the season. London started their weekend against the home town Wildcats with a 12-5 win that saw all 11 Lynx skaters record at least 1 point. In game two, London faced off against a higher ranked Elora-Fergus team. Despite running into penalty trouble that saw London playing shorthanded for more than one-third of the game, the U12A Lynx muscled out an impressive 7-3 win. In their final round robin game London ran out of steam and lost 8-3 to the eventual Gold-Medal winning Richmond Hill team. With a wonky 6 team field and no semi-final round, London U12A once again found themselves tied for second and eliminated on tie-breaker formula.
Our U14AA Lynx were also in action and also found themselves knocked out by tie-breaker formula. U14AA finished the round robin with a 2-2 record and did earn some valuable Ranking points. London began their weekend with a 3-2 win over Gloucester, followed by a tough 6-5 loss to Nepean, a 4-2 win over West Ottawa, before finishing out their weekend with a 5-4 loss to Ottawa. Richmond Hill would go on the win Gold here too—we will do some research of what they are putting in the water over in Richmond Hill—as their A/AA squads basically ran the table in Kitchener.
Fun3-Cleaver was the 6th and final Lynx team in action in Kitchener this weekend. These girls continue to work hard and develop and their smiles (see photo below) remind us why we all love this game so much. London’s first game saw them matched up against a much higher ranked Tillsonburg team who won 10-1 and proved untouchable in this tournament, going 4-0 with a +34 goal differential. London’s other games included a thrilling 9-7 win over Kitchener, and a close 6-4 loss to the silver-medal Cambridge Turbos.
The final Lynx team in tournament action this weekend was Open-A-Reidy who was in Richmond Hill for a Ranking Tournament. London would finish 3rd in this tournament, losing in the semi-finals to West Ottawa in a close 4-2 game. London’s other matchups included wins against both Richmond Hill teams, 8-2 and 6-1, and losses to Mississauga 4-3, and West Ottawa 4-0.
