Congratulations to the U19AA who capped off an excellent Pink-the-Rink Tournament with a Golden performance!
London had to fight through a tough round robin that saw them score a win against Kitchener 6-1, Mississauga 7-0, a 4-4 draw with Richmond Hill, and a tough 4-2 loss to Ajax Pickering; before earning a birth into the Gold Medal Match by defeating Eastern Ontario 7-5 in the Semi-Finals early Sunday morning.
The Gold Medal game was a rematch against Ajax Pickering. After a strong start that saw London stake themselves to a 6-2 early lead, the Lynx were able with withstand a relentless onslaught by Ajax Pickering that saw the game tighten to a one-goal game late in the 4th period. This game was a nail bitter. With the Ajax net empty and two London players in the penalty box, London survived a gruelling final few shifts to secure a 6-5 victory, and win the first and only Gold Medal for the Lynx at the 42nd Annual Pink-the-Rink Tournament.
This game was a true pleasure to watch for all the fans that made the trip back to the rink. Congratulations U19AA!
